Canvas Tips and Tricks
Granting students a second attempt at quizzes - Peter Bier (Yammer, Mon 2016-03-09 Links to an external site.)
Click on grades, then select the settings icon (the cog) and choose "Show student quiz results". Wait a while. Hit Ctrl-F and search on the name. Click on their name (if it is the right one). In this view you will see pretty much the identical content as going through the "people" tab and drilling down to the quiz but magically there is now a button to the right that will allow you to grant them another attempt.
Canvas Chrome extension tool - Ron Tiong (Yammer, 2016-02-05 Links to an external site.).
Ron Tiong (PTF, Business School) has created a free Chrome extension tool that allows staff to export from Canvas:
- Class lists with student email addresses by sections and/or whole classes (i.e. you no longer have to manually extract this from the Class Roster/Grades pages, or run a SSO query).
-
A report of student access logs (similar to what is available in CourseBuilder).
Once installed, clicking on the address bar icon allows you to download student lists by section or groups (I’ve blanked out student names in this example):
Once installed, go to “People” (even if it’s greyed out) and you will see an additional button called “Download access report”. The output will give you insights into which files/resources students have accessed, and how they are getting to these resources (e.g. through ‘modules’, ‘files’ or ‘pages’ if you have all of these set up).
