Evaluate how effective the evidence has been
The final stage in evidence based practice involves evaluating how effective the evidence has been.
This involves two steps:
1. Reviewing the effectiveness of the EBP process for your specific case.
This requires reviewing how effectively you have implemented each step of the EBP process for your specific case, and deciding if there are areas where you could improve. For example: Did you ask a well-formulated research question? Did you source relevant evidence from a number of reliable resources? Did you effectively critically appraise the evidence to fit your individual client?
2. Evaluating how effective the evidence has been in changing practice
Has the evidence had a positive effect or changed the way in which you practice? Your review could take the form of an audit or other quality improvement activity which evaluates the effectiveness of implementing in changes in practice.
