UoA Tutoring Central
Nau mai, haere mai. Welcome to the UoA Tutoring Central, the home for training and self-development for GTAs, TAs, and tutors across the University of Auckland. We are pleased to share these resources with you and hope you will find learning here that is useful to you, whatever your level of experience, subject area, and tutoring context.
You can work through the modules from beginning to end, or you can choose to dip in and out of the topics that are of particular interest to you. Some of you may be using these resources as part of organised training provided by your faculty or programme, whilst others may be working through them as self-directed, independent professional development. Either way, you will find a range of knowledge and activities that will help you to become the most effective tutor you can be, and to get the most out of your role. We wish you all the very best as you undertake this vital work in contributing to a positive, inclusive and high-quality University learning and teaching culture.
Mauri ora. Ngā mihi maioha.

Note on terminology:
* We often use the term "G/TAs" as a shorthand term, but this should be read to broadly include: teaching assistants, graduate teaching assistants, demonstrators, assessment markers, tutors, etc. If you are supporting student learning for a particular course or programme in addition to the main course teacher(s), this includes you, and so these resources are definitely for you!
** We often use the term "Course Coordinator" as a shorthand term, but this should be read to broadly include: course director, course coordinator, lecturer, professor, professional teaching fellow, etc. In general, G/TAs work with specific course academic staff who will manage and/or teach on the course, and so although the job title might be different for the context you are tutoring in, this is effectively who we mean.
