KOREAN 111: Korean for Beginners 2 (Second Semester, 2017)

I. COURSE DESCRIPTION

Welcome to KOREAN 111!

This course is the second part of beginning Korean and a continuation of KOREAN110. The objective of this course is to enable students to obtain basic spoken and written skills in modern Korean through active participation in a variety of communicative activities. Students will be exposed to rich input of spoken Korean and given frequent opportunities to practice their newly acquired vocabulary and grammatical structures in small group and pair work. Although the primary emphasis is on the development of the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), the course will also cover important aspects of Korean culture.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students who have completed the course successfully should be able to: 1) engage in face-to-face conversations on broader topics of daily-life, 2) comprehend simple Korean texts and write on broader topics based on their personal experiences, and 3) learn more about Korean culture and lifestyle.
