KOREAN 201: Intermediate Korean 2 (Second Semester, 2017)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Welcome to KOREAN 201! KOREAN 201 is the second part of intermediate Korean and a continuation of KOREAN 200. The objective of this course is to expand students’ communicative skills in modern Korean to an intermediate level by introducing further grammar points and useful expressions through multimedia teaching materials and interactive activities. Class time is dedicated to individual, pair, and group activities allowing students to acquire skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Distinctive aspects of Korean culture will be also introduced throughout the semester.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students who have completed the course successfully should be able to:

  • communicate in Korean on broader topics of daily life (e.g., travel, work, birthdays) using appropriate speech styles,
  • comprehend intermediate-level Korean texts and write on broader topics of daily life,
  • learn useful facts about Korean culture and contemporary lifestyle, and
  • develop a solid foundation for further and independent study in Korean.
