Course description

POLITICS 348 | International Organisations in Global Politics | Faculty of Arts Courses | The University of Auckland

This course examines the study of international organisations in global politics. It focuses on theoretical approaches to the study of international organisations. It explores the changing roles, functions and norms of these international organisations working in such areas as security, economics, environment protection, human rights, and social justice. 

Learning objectives/outcomes

By the end of the course, we should be able to:

  1. understand the significance of international organisations in an increasingly globalised world;
  2. assess the changing roles, functions, and norms of international organisations;
  3. master the theoretical approaches to the study of international organisations; and
  4. explore the ways in which international organisations can help to manage or govern major issues in world affairs.
