ASSESSMENTS

  1. Tutorial Preparation & Participation: 10%
  2. Reading/Viewing Quizzes: 20%
  3. Essay 2000 words 20%
  4. Creative Project 10%
  5. Final Exam (2 hours): 40%

 

  1. Tutorial Preparation & Participation:

Deadline: each tutorial beginning March 12 and ending May 28

This assessment consists of 10 weekly tasks in preparation for and participation in weekly tutorials. Each task/tutorial attendance combination is worth 1 mark. Tasks will vary over the course of the semester. Some may involve preparation while others will take place during the tutorial. Tasks may include sourcing images and bringing them for discussion, preparing for and participating in a debate, playing an online game and sharing your experience, making short oral presentations or free and formal writing exercises. In order to receive a full mark for each of the 10 tutorials students will need to come in prepared and to participate in the workshop. No partial marks will be awarded. The tutorial tasks will be posted under ‘Assignments’ in CANVAS.

If you are ill or need to miss a tutorial, please advise me in writing via email as soon as you are able. Consideration will be given to extenuating circumstances when course results are finalized. 

 

  1. Reading/Viewing Quizzes:

Deadline: Midnight the same day as the lecture for which the readings/viewings were assigned.

For each of the topics from Week 2 to Week 11 you will be required to complete an online quiz based on the required readings and essential viewing. For the readings and viewing please see “Reading List or Modules” in CANVAS.  The quizzes will be online and available under “Quizzes” in Canvas. Each quiz is worth 2 points. The number of questions in each quiz may vary.

  

  1. Essay

Deadline: April 5 midnight to CANVAS

Length: 2000 words

Essay Topics will be available on CANVAS under “Assignments” from Week 2

 

  1. Creative Exercise:

Deadline: May 24 midnight to CANVAS
