Course outline

A major component of this course the project. In the first couple of weeks you will be given an opportunity to form a team and bid for a project. You will then individually carry out a literature review related to that topic.  The literature review is completed before the break.

During the first half of the semester, there will be a series of lectures from the teaching team and guest lecturers. Lecture slides will be available on the Modules page.

The second half of the semester is devoted to projects. Immediately after the break, each group will meet with their supervising lecturer to finalize the scope and deliverables of their project. Each group will present their project to the class (schedule to be advised).  Apart from the presentation, the remainder of the project deliverables are due at the end of teaching.

You may find some of last year's material useful  https://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/courses/compsci705s2c/ This year’s course will be much the same. The main difference will be Jim Warren is replaced by Robert Amor. Robert will be lecturing about gesture-based interfaces and domain specific HCI.  The assessment will be pretty much the same with 60% for a research project and 40% exam.  The research project is part individual and part group - look at the assignments page from last year. We will have a new project list for this year.
