Summary of Course Description:

In Semester Two, 2019, this course will be offered in conjunction with French 707, which will focus on Audio-Visual Translation / Subtitling. In addition to attending French 707 Audio-Visual Translation classes and completing related Project work, French 720 students will undertake a 15 point dissertation (6,000 words) or additional individual subtitling project, as agreed with Course Convenor.

Assessment (100% coursework):

707 AVT Project = 50%

The project is broken down into several components including practical sub-titling editing & translation from and into French, an oral presentation and translation analysis/essay. Weightings TBA

720 AVT Dissertation or Individual Project (subject to approval) = 50%

Workload and deadlines for submission of coursework:

The University of Auckland's expectation is that students spend 20 hours per week on a 30 point course, including time in class and personal study. Students should manage their academic workload and other commitments accordingly. Deadlines for coursework are set by course convenors and will be advertised in course material. You should submit your work on time. In extreme circumstances, such as illness, you may seek an extension but you may be required to provide supporting information before the assignment is due. Late assignments without a pre-approved extension may be penalised by loss of marks – check course information for details.

Well-being always comes first
